Our facilitated slow session is for just about everyone who loves fiddling, including:
relatively new musicians (at least two years of playing)
classical stiffs looking to play tunes for fun!
players wanting to brush up on tunes or their general playing
mature players learning a new instrument...
In short, anyone interested in musical fun and camaraderie!
We'll play all manner of tunes – waltzes, airs, jigs, reels, hornpipes and polkas – in these special event sessions, held 3-4r times a year. And we'll do it much more slowly than you'd find in an Irish pub, so you'll feel comfortable.
One slow session each year is usually an "O'Carolan Session" – where we focus on the tunes of Turlock O'Carolan, one of Ireland's best-known and most beloved traditional musicians. We will also enjoy some of the authentic traditions of sessions, including choosing tunes around the circle, linking tunes into sets, and quaffing our favorite beverages (we offer wine and seltzer – BYO Guinness or other beverage of choice!) along with snacks provided by the studio.
Who Slow Session welcomes fiddlers who can read music and have at least two years of playing experience. These special events are open to the general public; you do not need to be a Full Circle Studio student to participate.
When Slow Traditional Session is offered four times each year; watch our schedule for dates.
